Snow Guard Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need snow guards?
The use of snow guards is important above areas of pedestrian traffic, over any area where people may walk, such as doorways, decks, and driveways. They are also important to minimize damage to landscaping projects, and over any other area where damage to people or property might occur if the snow pack slides off of the roof. Lack of snow guards can also be destructive to gutters, leaders and ornamental work.
What makes these snow guards special?
All of our models are manufactured of heavy duty cast aluminum or bronze. No sheet metal, plastics or glued components are used.
How many snow guards do I need?
Generally, snow guards are installed in rows in a staggered pattern along the eaves of a roof. How many you may need, and where to place them is based on your specific climate conditions, roof pitch, and your aesthetic expectations. Also see Layout Suggestions on our website.
Do I need to use adhesives?
No, none of our models require them.
How long will they last?
When properly installed, our Vermont Snow Guards will last for the life of your roof!
